SISTER RELATIONSHIPS

Sister Cities, Counties, States and Ports for More Information:

Washington State’s cities, ports, chambers of commerce, schools and other organizations have developed sister relationships with their counterparts in other countries. There are more than 60 sister city relationships in virtually every country in the world. More information on these relationships is available from the relevant mayor’s or city council office. The State has a sister state relationship with Hyogo Prefecture in Japan, Sichuan Province in China and Jalisco, Mexico. There are also friendship agreements with Chollabuk-do, Korea and Pangasinan, Philippines.

These sister relationships can provide a valuable starting point for companies seeking to develop trade and business contacts. Many of the sister relationships also encourage closer ties through cultural, educational and other programs.
