OMMISSION ON LEGISLATIVE BUILDING PRESERVATION AND RENOVATION

Lt. Governor Owen serves as Chair of the Commission on Legislative Building Preservation and Renovation as established by House Concurrent Resolution 4410.  The purpose of the commission is to "identify a plan and resources for the renovation and preservation of the state legislative building."

The twenty-one member commission includes prominent citizen members appointed by the Governor.  A rigorous review of alternatives and options to address the needs of the 72-year-old building was conducted. During the course of their work, independent experts were consulted and recommendations developed by a value engineering team were reviewed.  Options for financing, basic rehabilitation needs, space use and relocation, restoration treatment, access, seismic performance, and security were all carefully considered.  Workgroups composed of legislative staff, state agency staff, and private citizens analyzed information and developed options for the Commission's review.
