Lt. Governor Owen takes oath of office

Lt. Governor Owen gets sworn into office in House chambers

Brad Owen is sworn in to his fourth term as lieutenant governor of Washington state in inauguration ceremonies in House chambers January 14, with state Supreme Court Justice Barbara A. Madsen administering the oath of office. Behind the lieutenant governor is his wife, Linda, with Senator Rosa Franklin, president pro tem, to her right. At right is Rep. Jeff Morris, House speaker pro tem.  With Owen presiding, the ceremony also included the swearing in of Gov. Chris Gregoire, Secretary of State Sam Reed, Treasurer Jim McIntire, Attorney General Rob McKenna, Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn, Auditor Brian Sonntag, Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler and Lands Commissioner Peter Goldmark.

Below, the lieutenant governor chats with incoming Superintendent Dorn at a reception in his office honoring statewide elected officials and attended by several foreign consuls, legislators and other dignitaries. The ceremony can be viewed on TVW.
