Lt. Governor Owen appoints 11 to
Legislative Youth Advisory Council

OLYMPIA –  Lt. Gov. Brad Owen has appointed 11 Washington youth to the Legislative Youth Advisory Council (LYAC).

The council of 14 to 18-year-olds was established in 2005 to give the Legislature advice on critical issues related to education, health and fitness, test reform, school safety and other topics related to youth.

The 11 appointees were chosen from among 69 applicants from across the state's 49 legislative districts. A review committee from the council screened the applicants and made their recommendations to the lieutenant governor.

Appointees include:

  • Andrew Sambrook, Woodinville (45th Legislative District)
  • Anthony Tordillos, Pacific (30th)
  • Ashley Dezellem, Brewster (12th)
  • Gus Wimberger, Tacoma (27th)
  • Jesse Sheldon, Spokane (4th)
  • Jessica Ubachs, Clarkston (9th)
  • Mattie Orme, Spokane (3rd)
  • Morgan Curry, Mount Vernon (40th)
  • Prithvi Addepalli, Issaquah (5th)
  • Ryan Snell, Kennewick (8th)
  • Steve Sholdra, Renton (11th)

LYAC consists of twenty-two members who serve two-year terms and if eligible, may be reappointed for subsequent two-year terms. They can meet up to six times a year.
