Lt. Governor Owen
re-elected to leadership Lt. Gov. Brad Owen has been re-elected to the executive committee of the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) at the association’s annual meeting last week in Buffalo, New York.
Owen was elected to continue as the West-Region-at-Large, Democrat position for the NLGA. He was also re-appointed to the association's finance committee.
“Lieutenant Governor Owen was selected by a bi-partisan group of his peers from every region on the nation as a leader among his colleagues,” said NLGA Executive Director Julia Hurst.
The NLGA was formed in 1962 and is the only professional association for elected officials who are first in line of succession to the governors of the 50 states and five U.S. territories.
The NLGA provides members an opportunity to network, discuss and work on issues of common interest, share best practices and foster interstate cooperation. The NLGA seeks to promote the effectiveness of the Office of Lieutenant Governor.
The association's Western Region includes the following states and territories: Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, the Northern Mariana Islands, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Owen was elected lieutenant governor of Washington in 1996. He is currently the longest-serving active lieutenant governor in the United States.
