Lt.
Governor Brad Owen to serve as master of ceremony for World
Trade Centers Association Day
TACOMA, WA – The World Trade
Center Tacoma (WTCTA) is delighted to host Lt. Governor Brad
Owen as the Master of Ceremony for its World Trade Centers
Association Day and Global Artistry Contest to be held on
Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. The
festivities will be held in the Bicentennial Pavilion at the
Tacoma Sheraton Hotel, 1320 Broadway Plaza, Tacoma.
World Trade Centers Association Day is an annual event to
recognize the contributions achieved by World Trade Centers
globally. This annual event allows World Trade Centers
around the world to demonstrate unity and reaffirm their
commitment to promoting peace and stability through trade.
WTCTA joins over 275 World Trade Centers in acknowledging
the international organization’s accomplishments.
The event features a panel discussion on global education
and the Global Artistry art and essay contest for local high
school students. WTCTA is proud to welcome the presidents
from Pacific Lutheran University, and St. Martin’s
University and the vice-presidents from the University of
Puget Sound and University of Washington-Tacoma to speak
about Different Pathways to Global Education. The panel
discussion will be moderated by Lt. Governor Brad Owen.
The Global Artistry contest is sponsored by Columbia Bank
and City of Tacoma. Essays answer the question, “Do you
believe there are ways free trade can help alleviate global
poverty?” Artwork categories include painting, drawing,
photography, and sculpture. Each piece is created around a
theme that represents/illustrates “globalization.” Global
Artistry contest winners will be presented by Melanie
Dressel, president and CEO of Columbia Bank.
Participants of the Global Artistry art contest will have
their art submissions displayed during the event at the
Tacoma Sheraton Hotel, and at the Tacoma Art Museum,
American Art Company, and the Tacoma Public Library
following the event. Essays will be posted on the World
Trade Center Tacoma website.
The World Trade Center Tacoma invites the public to attend
this event. The cost is $25 for students, $30 for WTCTA
members, and $35 for nonmembers. Tables can be purchased for
$240. Attendance fee includes a catered lunch. Detailed
information and contest entry forms are available on the
World Trade Center Tacoma’s website.
