Honoring Merit and Valor
Lt. Governor
Owen congratulates Daniel J. Evans, former Washington governor and U.S.
Senator and one of four distinguished Washingtonians to receive
the state's Medal of Merit at a joint session of the Legislature in
House Chambers on Jan. 24. Behind Evans is Dr. Lisa Horowitz of the Fred
Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, who accepted the medal on behalf of
Nobel Prize Laureate Dr. Linda B. Buck. Owen presided over the session,
which also honored the four recipients of the Medal of Valor Award for
their lifesaving efforts. More information
