North Beach essay and poster
contest winners greet Lt. Governor
Essay and poster
contest winners from the North Beach area of Grays Harbor County met
with Lt. Gov. Brad Owen in his office on May 15. The students wrote and
drew around the theme of the American flag. From left, above, are Heidi
Vureck, Kristin Kato, Tylee Blowers, Jake Ray, Sebastian MaKinson,
Kendall Bishop, Elizabeth Garman, Lt. Gov. Owen, Desire' Werner and
Kaitlyn Holland. Owen will serve as co-grand marshall of the Ocean
Shores/North Beach Flag Day parade on June 16 and will ride with Jake
Ray, winner of the essay contest.
Below, Heidi Vureck
and Jake Ray, students at North Beach High, present the lieutenant
governor with a Hyaks blanket. Owen also received a certificate from the
group naming him an "Honorary Hyak."
